Allot 3-4 hours to your study per day. Focus on clearing 1 group. This will be relatively easier and provide you with the required confidence to continue further.
Reaching your CA Final by passing CPT, IPCC, and finishing Articleship only to find yourself failing in your CA Final exams can be hard. And if you are the eldest child in your family, you may have the pressure to quit CA and do some job instead, in order to support your family.
Now, if you want to finish your CA course successfully despite your family pressure and your repeated failures in the CA course, what do you do? The following points may be of your help:
1. Relatable situation
The problems that you are facing in your family, finances and the failures in the CA course, there are also other CA students who go through it. This means you are not alone in your struggle; some of your fellow CA students are struggling with these too. Keep faith that you will eventually overcome all of these.
2. Start mingling with people
No matter how many times you fail in your CA course and no matter what problems you face in your personal life, you deserve to live a peaceful life first. Hence, be with the people whom you love and who makes you feel better. These may be your friends, siblings, and/or kids in your immediate or extended family.
Spending quality time with your people also helps in offloading your troubles for the time being, thus allowing you to clear your mind to think about your problems from fresh perspectives in order to find the right solutions.
3. Carry a helpful mindset
Certain things are in your control and certain things are not. Writing your exams and preparing for them are under your control, but passing them or failing them are not.
Stop thinking about passing or failing in your exams as this will fill you with worries. Be concerned with writing your exams and giving your best shot at it.
4. Take your family into confidence
There is nothing like having a supportive family. If you have a pressure from your family to quit CA and do a job instead because of your repeated failures in the CA course, try explaining to them your want for finishing CA. Ask them for their support.
There are multiple possibilities in this regard. If you are the eldest child in your family, the chances are that you may have to do a job to meet the financial needs of your family, and alongside, you can continue your studies. You can ask for their support in this case too, to let you continue CA alongside your job. Doing so will reduce the family pressure.
5. Find a job
Look for a job where you can meet your financial needs. And if you have a good knowledge on the works that you learnt during your Articleship, look for a job and/or clients in your expertise.
Alternatively, if you have someone in your extended family, for example, who can provide you with financial support until your next exam, you may approach them. This would allow you six months to prepare for your CA exams.
6. Talk to CAs
There are CAs who have taken multiple attempts to clear their CA exams. They understand your pain of going through the repeated failures in the CA course and are in a position to help you better. Go and meet such CAs.
How? Start by approaching the CAs who are into teaching at the Institute. Seek their suggestions on how to study, and if you start meeting them regularly for suggestions, you can start asking them deeper questions such as how many attempts they wrote, what hurdles they faced and how they kept themselves motivated, thus providing you with useful hints in becoming CA.
7. Allot 3-4 hours of study per day
Despite your job, you must allot 3-4 hours to your study per day. Focus on clearing 1 group. This will be relatively easier and provide you with the required confidence to continue further.
Special thanks to CA Manesh Jain, Pawan R and Vijay K for their inputs.
