There can be instances where your parents do not get you at all, where your genuine and desired career choice is either not understood or misunderstood.
Your reasons for opting the CA course – are they right or wrong?
There are CA students who opt for the CA course for right reasons and there are also CA students who end up in the CA course for wrong reasons.
The right reasons for opting the CA course can likely be that becoming CA fascinates you, you like most of the subjects offered by the CA course and you happily see yourself having one or more of the career options offered specifically by the CA course.
Whereas the wrong reasons for ending up in the CA course can be, for examples, your close friend opted for the CA course and hence you did, you are ‘forced’ to take the CA course by your parents as against your free will etc. These are possibly the wrong reasons to take the CA course because, your consideration for opting the CA course is not based on your liking for the subjects that you are required to study in the CA course, and it is not on whether you wilfully see yourself pursuing a career offered specifically by the CA course.
Can the wrong reasons be made right?
But, even if you ended up in the CA course for the wrong reasons, you can always make adjustments in your life. For example, if becoming CA had never fascinated you in the past, you can start thinking about all the good that can possibly happen to you after you become CA and hence start to see yourself wilfully as becoming one. If you had not liked most of the subjects offered by the CA course, you can change your perspective and begin to see value in them and develop a liking towards them all. Likewise goes the case with choosing a career offered specifically by the CA course.
If you can make adjustments in your thoughts and likings, going on to become CA should not be a major problem for you.
On the other hand, despite all your efforts, if you still feel you do not belong in the CA course at all or in the career options offered by the CA course after you become CA, and instead you feel you belong to a career or profession that lay outside of the CA course, then it could be the time for you to move on from the CA course and into the field of your belonging.
When your parents force you to take CA against your will
There are many CA students who did not opt for the CA course by their free will but ended up in it because their parents strongly wanted them to. This can be a highly challenging situation to be in especially if you have wanted to pursue a different career.
Because, despite your ability to study all the subjects offered by the CA course and crack all the exams and hence progress in the CA course, there will likely be a lack of sense of belonging in the CA course and the CA profession. This void can end up making you feel miserable.
Are your parents wrong in forcing you?
When you are forced to take the CA course by your parents, is it inappropriate?
Sometimes what your parents decide for you against your will could be in the best interest of you having a good career and a good life. You may not understand it immediately but maybe you will look back later in your life and see that their forced approach was, in fact, better for you.
However, there can also be instances where your parents do not get you at all, where your genuine and desired career choice is either not understood or misunderstood. In this case, if you have the courage to make your own decisions for yourself, bear the disappointments of your parents, go on to build a good career in the field of your own choice, then these could be your next steps.
